Owner & Senior Attorney
John D. Middleton, Esq.
John D. Middleton grew up around the practice of law: his father practiced in Palm Beach, and that is where John began. He earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Florida in 1973 and his law degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1976, then started his career in his father's firm, Burns, Middleton, Farrell & Faust.
From 1978 to 1981 he was a senior staff attorney at Florida Institutional Legal Services in Gainesville, handling civil rights cases and post-conviction relief for indigent inmates, work that remains part of the firm's practice today. He opened his own office in Melrose in 1981 and has practiced there ever since.
As the firm's senior attorney he manages the office, assigns cases, handles the firm's most complex matters and co-counsels with the other attorneys. After more than four decades in the courts of North Central Florida, he knows the judges, the clerks and the ground.
